A World United in Love
The 100th year of the advent of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was celebrated across every continent and in virtually every country where the SSSIO is active. From Riverside, California, where more than 1,100 delegates gathered for the 11th World Conference, to intimate living-room satsangs in the farthest corners of the globe, devotees united in love, gratitude, and renewed resolve to live Swami’s timeless message. The theme that wove through every celebration, ‘Purity is Enlightenment,’ served as both a guiding principle and a personal challenge for each participant. What follows is an abbreviated record of those celebrations: the grand World Conference that anchored the year, and the zone-by-zone outpourings of devotion that confirmed that He is present wherever hearts call out to Him. 11th World Conference and 100th Birthday
More than 1,100 delegates from 43 countries gathered at Sai Prema Nilayam in Riverside, California, from November 19–24, 2025, for the 30th Ladies Day celebration, the 11th SSSIO World Conference, and the 100th Birthday celebration of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Under the theme ‘Purity is Enlightenment,’ the historic gathering filled Sai Prema Nilayam’s halls with Vedic chanting, bhajans, inspiring talks, and devotional processions. A colorful flag ceremony recognized delegates from 113 nations and territories; the spontaneous placement of the Ukrainian and Russian flags alongside the Israeli and Iranian flags before the stage offered a quietly powerful reminder of the unity Bhagawan always envisioned.
Ladies Day on November 19 opened with a procession bearing images of Swami and Mother Easwaramma, accompanied by Vedic chanting and bhajans. Speakers included Mataji Pravrajika Vrajaprana of the Vedanta Society of Southern California, who spoke on the theme of purity and drew parallels between Christ’s teaching and that of Swami Vivekananda. Mrs. Jenny Monson, Central Coordinator of Zone 3, shared how Swami’s grace carried her through the loss of her son at age 26, a testament to the purifying power of surrender. The evening concluded with the Sarva Dharma Choir’s concert, ‘Beacons of Nations.’
The 11th World Conference opened on November 20 with Dr. Narendranath Reddy’s inaugural address: “Swami has no birth and no death. He has no beginning and no end because He is eternal and infinite.” He expounded on the conference theme, noting that purity, encompassing body, food, family, environment, and above all, mind and heart, is the true path to enlightenment. On November 21, an Interfaith Panel with speakers from Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu traditions independently pointed to the SSSIO logo as an expression of their own faith, validating Swami’s declaration that He came to nurture the roots of all religions. Young Adults contributed throughout the conference, including a moving ‘TED Talk’ on spiritual transformation by Mr. Miguel Montes of Mexico.
The SAI-100 Initiative was discussed on Day 3, including the release of a document recording the selfless service carried out by SSSIO members worldwide during the centennial year, a collective offering at Swami’s lotus feet. The conference also launched the new SSSIO Events App, developed entirely by the SSSIO IT team, marking the organization’s first fully digital conference tool.
The 100th birthday on November 23 was filled with personal testimony. Dr. Reddy recounted a miracle surrounding his father’s sudden hospitalization, which was reversed after fervent family prayer. Swami’s response at Prasanthi Nilayam was characteristically tender: “What could I do? Your mother was praying in the puja room, holding on to My feet so tightly, I had no choice!” Mr. Aravind Balasubramanya mused on the gifts one could give Swami: the fruits of action, the flower of divine feelings, and the water of tears of devotion. Devotees were blessed with a rare darshan of the Hiranyagarbha Linga, which emerged from Swami during Maha Shivaratri 2004. Finally, the evening featured a traditional Jhoola (Swing) Ceremony and a mandolin concert by Sri U. Rajesh.
The concluding day unfolded as an intimate satsang, with Mr. Leonardo Gutter sharing his path from skepticism to complete surrender. In his valedictory address, he urged every delegate: “We have a duty and responsibility to share what we have learned, all the joy we have experienced, and all the love we have felt, with all Sai Centers in all countries.” Mr. Satyajit Salian, Swami’s personal attendant, recollected nostalgic incidences from the time he spent with the Avatar. As one delegate from Melbourne, Florida, USA, summarized: “I want to find out how I can be a better instrument in Swami’s mission.”
Birthday Celebrations Around the World
Across all ten zones of the SSSIO, the 100th Birthday of Bhagawan was honored with programs as varied and rich as the cultures in which they were held. In every case, the common thread was love, expressed through devotion, service, and community.
North America and the Caribbean
In the Americas and Oceania, creative devotion flourished at every scale. In Canada, 700 guests enjoyed a concert in Vancouver featuring 100 local musicians performing ‘100 Echoes of Love,’ while a national gathering in Brampton, themed ‘One World, One Love,’ brought together devotees, families, and civic leaders. Jamaican devotees organized food relief for families affected by Hurricane Melissa, distributing provisions to over 300 people in each of two parishes, and offered food to 200 individuals on the streets of Kingston on Swami’s Birthday.
Central America and the Caribbean
In Central America, El Salvador’s palanquin procession and SSE drama enacting Swami’s declaration of Avatarhood were complemented by Costa Rica’s guided meditation program held at the base of lush green hills.
South America
South America’s highlights included Argentina’s national gathering ‘100 Years of Embodied Love’ near Santa Fe, Bolivia’s three-day spiritual family reunion integrating talks and Veda chanting, and three and a half hours of bhajans at the Pendotiba Center in Rio de Janeiro.
Oceania
In Fiji, the ‘Sai 100 Homes’ initiative conducted devotional programs in 100 private homes across three cities, introducing Sai teachings to hundreds of new families. In Australia, the centennial year inspired blood donation drives, service projects, and a 100-day sadhana in Victoria.
South and Southeast Asia
Across Asia and Europe, the celebrations reflected the full breadth of Swami’s global family. India’s programs ranged from a student-led event in Dharamshala featuring Rudrabhishekam and a Yajna to a special meal offered to children at a school serving those affected by polio in Jodhpur. Sevadal members in Indonesia provided urgent flood relief alongside trauma-healing sessions for children through songs and storytelling.
East Asia
A grand cultural evening in Hong Kong drew approximately 700 people and included a Ladies’ Wing and Young Adults play exploring namasmarana and seva, and a Qawwali performance celebrating the unity of faiths.
Europe
Ireland offered 100 bhajans in an atmosphere of deep devotion; Bosnia planted approximately 150 trees in Sarajevo and Tuzla as an environmental offering for the 100th Birthday; and Croatia drew newcomers comprising more than half the audience, a sign of Swami’s love drawing new seekers.
Central Asia and Russia
Among other countries, Belarus held festive programs with round-table discussions on experiencing God’s presence, Kazakhstan decorated its hall with Swami’s robe draped over His chair on the stage, and Azerbaijan marked the occasion with Sanskrit and Hindi bhajans and a specially decorated birthday cake.
Africa
Africa’s 100th Birthday programs were among the most service-oriented of the year. Ghana served breakfast and lunch to 150 patients at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital and 350 at the Pantang Mental Hospital before the main gathering at the Osu Sai Temple drew 120 participants from multiple faith communities. In South Africa, 135 grocery hampers and hot meals reached approximately 450 people, while the Prema Dhaara Sai Center in Midrand organized a Laksharchana (100,000 recitations of the divine name) alongside the distribution of over 1,000 meals to children’s homes and feeding centers. Madagascar hosted a five-day medical camp serving more than 6,600 patients with over 40 international doctors. Uganda conducted blood donation camps, collecting 55 units. Nigeria, Benin, and the Democratic Republic of Congo each contributed distinctive programs of service, culture, and devotion, while Iran’s devotees gathered online to share Swami’s teachings in Persian, united by the certainty that His love knows no borders.
One Sai, One World
The centennial year was not merely commemorated; it was lived. From the grand halls of Sai Prema Nilayam to a candlelit room in Sarajevo, from a dawn Suprabhatam in Uganda to a virtual gathering in Iran, the world’s Sai family came together as one to affirm a single truth: He is here. His presence was felt in the double rainbow that appeared over Sai Prema Nilayam, in the spontaneous side-by-side placement of nations’ flags, in the garland that swayed without a breeze in a still hall in Mombasa, and in every meal served to the hungry, every tree planted in His name, every child who danced, and every elder who sang His praises with eyes closed in remembrance. As Dr. Narendranath Reddy declared at the opening of the World Conference: “For the 8.2 billion people on this Earth, those of us who have experienced Him are the most blessed and fortunate.” The centennial year did not mark an ending. It marked a renewal of commitment to His mission, of devotion to His teachings, of love for the One who promised: I am with you, always.
