An international Veda tutorial programme for Young Adults

Sathya Sai International Veda Programme for Young Adults launched its first Veda training on 24 April 2020 on the auspicious day of Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam with the opening of the registration for Young Adults, followed by the inaugural webinar on 20 June 2020.

The programme aims to provide a golden opportunity to empower Young Adults to take up Veda chanting and to propagate the teachings of Vedas. The overall objective of Veda programme is to:

  • Increase the awareness of Veda chanting as a spiritual discipline for welfare of the people and society,
  • Develop a group of highly qualified Young Adult Veda chanters in Sathya Sai International Organisation (SSIO), who understand the meaning of the Vedas, and can be trainers in their respective zones and countries to spread the chanting of Vedas,
  • Participate in Veda chanting in various SSIO events at Centre, regional/state, national levels and at Prasanthi Nilayam.

The Veda Programme comprises two core components including one year of Veda training and chanting during events and festivals. The Veda training allows Young Adults from around the world to learn the following Vedic mantras.

  • Ganapati Prarthana
  • Shivopasana Mantra
  • Mantra Pushpam
  • Sri Rudram (Namakam and Chamakam)
  • Purusha Suktam
  • Shree Suktam
  • Durga Suktam
  • Medha Shuktam
  • Nakarmana
  • Bhoo Suktam
  • Ganapati Atharvaseersham (optional)

The training will be delivered through the zonal and national Veda resource persons via fortnightly lessons. Materials (audio and text) will be shared in advance of each lesson with Young Adults to complete the required self-learning followed by online and/or face-to-face classes with experienced trainers.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons will be conducted to ensure all the Young Adults are able to participate and attain proficiency. Advanced chanters, who are able to lead/train Veda chanting, will be encouraged to assist in training beginner and intermediate learners.

Additionally, special webinars with subject matter experts will be be organised to support the Young Adults in learning and gaining a deeper understanding of the Vedas. Although these webinars are primarily for the Young Adults, all SSIO members are welcome to attend. Details of past and upcoming sessions can be found below.
