2011 May 29. The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust released an appeal to devotees of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, thanking them for the support and messages of faith. They ensured that starting from Guru Purnima this year, all festivals as per the normal calendar of events will continue. Other events like Prasanthi Seva, Parthi Yatra, pilgrimage programmes, various conferences and training programmes, bal vikas, and cultural programmes, etc., will also continue as before. Read the Complete Statement here.

Meanwhile Vedam Chanting and Bhajans are continuing as usual from 08:00am to 09:30am in the morning and 04:30pm to 06:00pm in the evening. The majestic throne of Bhagawan sits atop a wooden stage in front of the Samadhi. Sunday, the biblical day of rest, saw many devotees coming to rest on the lap of their mother Sri Sathya Sai and inhale the sense of peace that is unique to Prasanthi Nilayam, the incense from which Bhagawan spreads the Fragrance of Love across the cosmos.

Meanwhile, construction of the permanent Mahasamadhi is underway and is expected to take about 6 weeks.

treeOn 20 May, a heavy thunderstorm resultied in partial collapse of the most famous Kalpa vriksham (wish-fulfilling tree, as commonly called). This tamarind tree was historic. As a small boy, Swami, used to take friends and classmates to the tree. There Swami used to ask His friends to think of any fruit or object, and He would pluck the same from that tamarind tree. There were many instances when He plucked apples, mangoes, etc during unseason times from a tamarind tree. He even gave laddu and other sweets from that tree. This tree later on was called as Kalpavriksham, the tree that will fulfill your wishes. It is one of the main places of visit for every pilgrim coming to Parthi. Only a small part of the tree is left. Hopefully, some care will be taken to keep this DIVINE MEMORY alive for few more years. (Click on image for a larger view.)
