Zone Activities

In March 2023, the Serving the Needy project attracted over 150 volunteers from 37 Sai centers and groups in Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan. They served food and essential items to 750 needy people at churches, elderly homes, and homeless shelters throughout Zone 8 of the SSSIO. The volunteers dedicated the day to their spiritual master, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. On July 30, 2023, a group of 66 people, including 11 children from various countries, celebrated a Zonal holiday camping in nature, which inspired them to love and serve nature, preserve the five elements, and care for the planet. In early October, over 200 SSSIO members from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia gathered to serve over 800 impoverished people. The volunteers distributed warm clothes, shoes, gloves, underwear, and food packages, promoting spiritual upliftment and giving joy to both the volunteers and the recipients.

The 20th SSSIO Conference in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan focused on forgiveness as a virtue representing the values of truth, righteousness, and love. Thirty-eight people from 13 cities participated in the conference, which included discussions on the prospects of the organization's growth, global scenarios, and the application of Sathya Sai's teachings. The conference concluded with a harmonious concert expressing gratitude to Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Azerbaijan

The 8th Zonal Conference and Youth Festival was held in Azerbaijan in January 2023. It featured entertaining programs, inspiring talks, and cultural presentations focusing on modesty and humility. On March 11, 2023, SSSIO volunteers in the Bilgah region cooked and served warm food to 14 disabled individuals, including four children. The volunteers also offered gifts, including Syamyani (sprouted wheat), which symbolizes abundance.

SSSIO volunteers and over 200 public participated in a three-day service camp in Gusary City, focusing on ecological awareness, environmental conservation, and fostering unity among diverse cultures through parables, creative crafts, and group activities. SSSIO volunteers in the country have supported former orphanage residents, offered food and medical treatment, and organized enjoyable group outings and recreation. In September 2023, eight former orphanage residents and 12 cooks and assistants prepared a wholesome meal for 40 needy villagers, demonstrating their love and commitment to selfless service.

Belarus

In early March 2023, SSSIO volunteers in Belarus provided a variety of meals and desserts to over 40 needy people. In October 2023, 15 volunteers provided nourishing meals and clothing to the disadvantaged in four cities. They served food to people in need at homeless shelters and near temples, streets, and recycling sites and distributed items like shoes and toys.

SSSIO volunteers served their communities by providing assistance and spiritual support. At the 25th National Conference, the delegates shared experiences of loving services rendered across the country. Six speakers also shared their personal experiences with Sri Sathya Sai Baba, highlighting His eternal presence in their lives. SSSIO members attended an online event in November 2023 focusing on the Clean Planet project, which included a 12-minute film, creative compositions, and a harmonious concert.

Kazakhstan

In February 2023, SSSIO members observed Maha Shivaratri in Almaty and Astana, delivering food packages and providing financial assistance to needy families. The volunteers also distributed hot buckwheat porridge and bread to ten people in Shchuchinsk and prepared and served 50 meals to the disadvantaged in Rudny. At the 36th Kazakhstan Volunteer Camp, held from April 1 to 9, 2023, many service projects were organized. Members from Almaty Sai Center provided food and household items, cleaned a country house, collected plastic, glass, and garbage, and helped low-income families in Kostanay and Semey. The recipients were overjoyed and were grateful for the selfless services rendered so lovingly by the volunteers.

In May 2023, SSSIO volunteers in Kazakhstan cleaned public spaces, planted trees, worked on homesteads, and fed animals, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation. One of the volunteers shared, "We cleanse our hearts by cleaning garbage from nature and caring for her." During June 3-4, 2023, SSSIO members in Kazakhstan participated in a Zonal Purity Day by clearing garbage and serving people in need. They organized a Spiritual Health Camp in Astana, provided food packages to low-income families, and cleaned a riverbank.

In July 2023, SSSIO members in Astana and Almaty cleared and watered gardens and picked up garbage in suburban areas. They also organized an online Guru Poornima celebration, attracting Sai devotees from other regions and countries. In October 2023, 37 SSSIO members participated in a Zonal project to feed the needy. They provided food, including breakfast, to 35 homeless individuals, low-income families, and children in need. They also visited a Social State Institution and distributed buckwheat porridge to underserved people.

In November 2023, 12 teachers in Kazakhstan conducted SSE classes for children in an orphanage. The sessions included interactive activities, skits, crosswords, and board games. The teachers also organized seminars for educators on revealing good qualities in children through storytelling and universal human values.

Kyrgyzstan

Four volunteers provided hot food, including homemade pilaf, pastries, cookies, and chocolates, to people experiencing homelessness at the Colomto night shelter. Four SSSIO members visited Bishkek on April 9, 2023. They shared Baba's teachings on the practice of unity of thought, word, and deed and adopting a righteous lifestyle in their journey of self-transformation. In October 2023, seven SSSIO volunteers participated in a Zone-wide project to serve the residents of a homeless shelter. They prepared and served meals and distributed cookies, waffles, dates, apples, and jackets, expressing gratitude to their spiritual master, Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Moldova

In May 2023, Sai volunteers in Moldova provided warm food and snacks to 25 homeless people at the Center for the Homeless in Kishinev. They also cared for puppies at the shelter. In June 2023, 13 SSSIO members, including children, participated in a field trip, enjoying yoga sessions, singing devotional songs, and playing games.

A five-day summer camp for 9 to 12-year-old children was held in late July 2023. The camp included gymnastics, yoga, reading, and human values lessons. Creative arts were the favorite activity, and children helped set tables and clean up afterward. The children also received gifts, including markers, balloons, sweets, and a folder.

Russia

Three SSEHV teachers in southern Russia regularly conduct values-based classes in two schools in the settlements of Sochi. The classes are offered to 1,200 students during school hours or as extracurricular activities. They are tailored to suit the children's age, gender, and abilities. The teachers encourage the children and strive to positively influence them by highlighting examples of successful people who have achieved noble goals as role models.

SSSIO members attended several regional conferences in Russia in 2023, focusing on contentment, the practice of unity of thought, word, and deed, and the path to Self-realization. The 15th conference in the Siberian region discussed forgiveness and the practice of truth, right conduct, and love. In September 2023, a regional conference in Sochi commemorated 30 years of SSSIO activities and emphasized the importance of education, leadership training, and participating in service projects. In October 2023, 33 students in the Caucasus Region attended educational meetings on self-knowledge and inner harmony. SSSIO members organized several public meetings to raise awareness about Sai's teachings.

The Sai Family Camp in Southern Russia attracted 41 people, including 12 children. It focused on Sai Baba's teachings on enduring peace and happiness and included wellness programs, devotional singing, and activities grounded in Sai's teachings.

In June 2023, 17 SSSIO members from Zone 8 participated in a volunteer camp in Leningrad, renovating a local school, holding values-based classes for 25 children, and organizing a medical camp for over 100 residents. SSSIO volunteers participated in nature retreats and Purity Day Service projects, serving food, caring for birds and animals, cleaning garbage, and helping military personnel. In August 2023, over 50 volunteers participated in a Zonal volunteer camp, completing construction and repair work in rural schools, a polyclinic, and a kindergarten. In November 2023, SSSIO members from Zone 8 participated in the Zonal Clean Planet project, which included an inspiring 12-minute film, creative autumn compositions, and poetry recitation.

On November 23, 2023, nearly 300 people in Central Russia celebrated Baba's 98th Birthday. The event, led by young adults, featured a vibrant concert, songs, poems, choir music, and a traditional Dagestani folk dance.

On October 8, 2023, the SSE Sunday School in Central Russia held a program to start the new academic year, involving ten children embarking on a Human Values quest. The Siberian Region of the SSSIO of Russia organized a Children's Festival with the theme Love for the Motherland to educate children about Russia's national symbols and culture. The festival included puzzles, quests, films, discussions, and artistic expressions. The SSE Sunday School in the Caucasus region opened in October 2023. It included a performance, games, riddles, and dances and ended with a joyous ring dance.

Ukraine

The SSSIO of Ukraine held a two-day online National Conference from June 24 to 25, 2023. The conference attracted Sai devotees from seven cities in Ukraine, Russia, and Azerbaijan. The program included reports on projects, SSSIO activities, public meetings, and humanitarian assistance.
